Theatre Historian

I am fascinated by the way theatre and performance provide a sense of identity. My scholarly writing has been widely  published in books, journals, and magazines. Below you will find a sampling of my editing works, chapters, articles, and reviews.

I am also the co-author with Edwin Wilson and Alvin Goldfarb of two bestselling theater textbooks:

  • Theatre: The Lively Art, an introduction to theatre textbook published by McGraw Hill

  • Living Theatre: A History of Theatre, a theatre history textbook published by Norton
